“Excellent songs, intricate, yet very clean & interesting arrangements, very tasty solo chops, great ear for sounds, smooth, strong voice... what a package!” –Hadley Hockensmith – guitarist for Neil Diamond.

Some things are worth waiting for and Greg Roz has definitely turned out to be one of them. Although music has always been a part of his life it was not until a few years ago that he finally discovered and realized the full potential of his talents. Using the incredible technology that has become available to artists today, Greg has become a master in the art of digital recording and midi programming. Combine this with his incredible writing, arranging and mixing abilities and you have what some have referred to as ”genius”.

But getting to where he is today was not an easy task.

“My life has been quite the ride.” says Greg. “This whole thing is so long overdue for me. Growing up in the seventies I became part of the whole drug scene when I was just a teenager. That’s a pretty common story I suppose and since I was a musician it seemed pretty normal to me. But that lifestyle took control of my life at a very young age and all my dreams of being a musician faded real fast. Yeah I dug music but it was nothing without the drugs and booze and to me they went hand in hand. I was obsessive and compulsive and wanted as much as I could take as soon as I could get it. To make money I took a job working in a factory and eventually found myself working my way up the corporate ladder keeping myself well lubricated the whole time. After 19 years, a wife and three kids later, I found myself in detox for the twentieth time but this time I had finally lost my job and even my will to live. That was 1997 and I had finally reached my bottom. Well, to make a long story short, I was finally sick and tired of the man I had become and on Thanksgiving Day that year I put down the drink and (after trying so many times before) picked up Recovery and this time have never let go. ”

Greg’s “rebirth” into music began a few years later as he cautiously stepped back into the world that he had always wanted to pursue. “At first I did not want to share my story with everyone but today I know the great strength it has given me and that so much of who I am is about how I not only overcame my addictions but ultimately turned them into a productive force. The songs that I have written are clearly based on the emotional and spiritual connection I have begun to make within myself and with those who have touched my life."

And this is only the beginning........................ Greg is getting ready to release his next CD which should be available the summer of 2005. Of course you'll hear it here first so stay tuned to Itsaboutmusic.com and be prepared to be amazed once more.

A vision is something that we all must have to some degree or another. Whether that vision becomes clear or remains elusive is simply a matter of what sacrifices one is willing to make to bring it into reality. With faith and perseverance, what can be imagined can be created.
