What is this?Coretta Sellars got her start as an opener for The Bull Run Concert Series in the mid 90’s. Performers such as J Geils Band, 10,000 Maniacs, and Jonathan Edwards have headlined at The Bull Run. It wasn’t long till Sellars’ popularity grew, and soon she became a favorite headliner.
Coretta is a phenomenal writer. Her melodies are catchy, and her voice rings with emotion. You’ll see when you hear her, especially live! Sellars’ writing is usually from her own personal experiences. Some songs take on a universal feel, but mainly it’s her journey through life. Her goal is to have people relate to her songs in their own way. Reminiscent of the modest Jim Croce, and the bluesy country rock of The Rolling Stones. One of her steady inspirations have been the soulful Indigo Girls.
Though many have influenced Sellars...her roots lie within 70’s classic rock bands/singer songwriters, and a lot of country music. Her fourth and latest CD ”Keeping The Space” shows growth, lessons learned along the way, and experiences many can relate to. Coretta has played at numerous clubs, colleges, benefits, and charities. She was a nominee in The Worcester Phoenix in 1999 and 2000 for Best Local Folk Act. In October of 2007, Sellars performed at The Vixen in Provincetown, Ma. Sellars shared the stage with some wonderful artists, including the soulful and bluesy Trina Hamlin. Performing throughout the Boston area, Sellars has established a large and loyal fan base, which continues to grow. She was recently a Home Grown Featured Artist on Boston’s WXRV The River 92.5 where Sellars received positive feedback from the listening audience. Whether it’s your first time seeing her or your hundredth time...you will find what you came looking for. Bringing folk music to all generations, Sellars is heartfelt and humourous.....A Must See Act!
