Sly’d was formed in April 2001 by founding members Mark Andrews and John Chretian. Mark had moved down from Pa. earlier in the year and was looking for bandmates. He told a friend that knew a friend that called somebody that knew someone…that someone ended up being Slyd’s future drummer John. John had recently relocated to Central Florida from Mass. where he had replaced Staind drummer Jon Wysocki in a band Phil Andre’ was in. Phil and John’s band had parted ways when “New Kids on the Block” hired their guitar player. That’s when Phil headed south. After meeting Mark, John brought Phil in and the band was almost complete. The missing element, Tony Mix (guitar) was picked up through a want ad in the Orlando Weekly, a popular local music based magazine and website.

Sly’d has done well since its inception, playing over 100 gigs and over 6000 hits to their website since. They have great mix of popular covers and crunchy, melodic originals that has proven popular wherever they have appeared. Sly’d has been featured on 2 major radio stations in central Florida and at two of Meg O’Malley’s street parties in Melbourne, where attendance was 6000 the first event and 10,000 the second. Watch for Sly’d throughout Florida, in venues from Daytona Beach to Orlando to Ft Lauderdale.
